Mitchell Starc: There will be a Test series between India and Australia later this year. The mind game has started from the Australian players regarding this series. Now Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc has made a big statement and said that he is going to win this series. Before Mitchell Starc, former team captain Ricky Ponting had said that our (Australia) team will win this series by a margin of 3-1.
In fact, Australia has not won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy since the 2014-15 season. India has won the Test series against Australia four times in a row. This also includes two historic series wins in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21 which came on Australian soil.
Mitchell Starc’s warning to India
Talking about the series against India, Starc said, “India defeated us in the last two series in Australia. We definitely want to take revenge. We will not let India win a single match in this series. The Indian team is very strong so it is not easy to defeat them. Australian players have already started preparing for this series.”
Starc compared Border Gavaskar Trophy to Ashes series
This time there will be a 5-match Test series between India and Australia. In such a situation, this series is being compared to the prestigious Ashes. Talking about this, Starc said- “This time this series is of five matches. Because of this, this series has become as important as the Ashes. We want to win every match on home ground. But India also has a strong team. But still we are going to win the series.”
Also, Starc believes that this series is also important in terms of the World Test Championship (WTC). India is currently at the top in the ‘WTC’ rankings, while Australia is in second place.
